Wie zijn wij
KC Nicolaas is always evolving. In October 2023, for example, we moved into our brand-new and fun children's center, together with daycare center Avem. We renewed our educational vision and had inspiring conversations with each other about developing into a more professional learning environment. Our mission and four core values PRIDE, CONNECTION, RESPONSIBILITY and CRAFTMANSHIP guide us in everything we do.
With great enthusiasm, we let these guiding principles lead us every day when interacting with our 400+ children, divided into 17 classes in the heart of Oss. We are committed to global citizenship education: meeting each other, connecting with yourself, others, and the world around us. In addition to providing a strong foundation in core subjects such as reading, arithmetic, language, and writing, we prepare our children for the future. For example, we start teaching English from group 1 and develop 21st-century skills by working with IPC. With our social companion projects, we help children become aware of their surroundings, the people within them, and the opportunities that cooperation brings. Want to know more about us? Preference will be given to a qualified teacher with experience in teaching English as a foreign language to (very) young learners and with the ability to contribute to the development of the "early and enhanced English" teaching program as part of the school curriculum. You provide lessons tailored to students’ levels of learning, create a positive and encouraging environment and prepare assignments and course materials tailored to student needs. Since close co-operation with the Dutch-speaking staff is essential, a command of Dutch (or the willingness to learn Dutch) would be appreciated. The Nicolaas School offers an excellent opportunity for teachers interested in being part of a unique and challenging project. There is considerable scope for future professional development. We have a support system for both teachers and schools and close co-operation with a partner in the United States. Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Education.
- Preferably a CELTA; TESOL; TEFL certificate. Full mastery of English (C2 level) across all four skills.
- Speaking in standard British/American English without a foreign accent.
- Teaching or tutoring experience (classroom or one-on-one).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Organized and dependable, and able to manage time effectively.
- Familiarity with academic assessments.
